We Bought a Zoo/House

Hey everyone. We did it! Just after Christmas, Jeff and I closed on a beautiful old house in Port Townsend, WA. We really like it here. Now we will be giving the house a makeover and posting about it on this blog. Just what the internet needed, another blog about renovation projects! I'm sure it will go viral in no time, which is the whole reason we started a blog anyway. To whet your appetite, here are 10 ways our experience/this blog is going to be like the upcoming feature film, We Bought a Zoo*.

1. They bought something in the movie, and we bought something in real life. In their case, a zoo.

2. Houses are full of surprises. In their case, their house is also a zoo! In our case, there was no heating inside the house except a wood stove.

3. Zoos have animals. We have an animal. Ours is a dog named McEnroe.

4. People are always telling Jeff that he looks like Matt Damon. It's getting so embarrassing! Stop it already!

5. I've been compared to Scarlett Johansson like, so many times. SO MANY TIMES! When Jeff and I walk down the street everyone is like, "there go Matt Damon and Scarlett Johansson. They bought a zoo."

6. Heartwarming!

7. Based on a true story! In our case, entirely true!

8. People like to visit zoos, and some day people will like to visit our house.

9. People doing unexpected things! Matt Damon bought a zoo, we will be renovating in the dead of winter.

10. The house in the movie has a big backyard, which is also a zoo. We have a big backyard, which used to house 30 goats in the "goat barn" (not kidding!).

*my information is based solely on the preview for We Bought a Zoo, and what I imagine it would be like. I have no intention of seeing the movie in full. If I want to cry, I will watch the preview for War Horse.
