New Year, New House

We had our first day of demolition today. We also realized that we need a memory card for our camera. The camera can store up to 14 photos at a time, so we took 13 or so "Before" photos of the house (there was a picture of Mac on there and he was just so cute we couldn't delete it. Could you?).

So cute! Anyway, we're starting with the kitchen:

We smashed those cabinets up good. Then we were getting ready to pack it in, when I picked at some wallpaper in the master bedroom upstairs. It turns out it was really easy and fun to remove, so we did that.

Big, satisfying strips.

Then I was like, "let's see if that wallpaper downstairs that we hate is this easy to take down!" It might be. But what was really easy was taking off this charming vinyl floor.

The best surprise of the day was finding totally useable wood flooring underneath the vinyl! We thought it might just be sub-flooring underneath. Also, whoever installed this floor didn't staple or nail the hell out of it to keep it in place, so it was nice and easy to remove. The fuse box calls this room The Library. How awesome is that? We're totally going to honor that. One step closer to a CLUE party!

More photos to come as the renovation continues. Just wait until we get ourselves a memory card!
