Kitchen Demolition, Wallpaper Removal, and Secret Doors

Today Jeff continued gutting the kitchen, while I took down some wallpaper. Here are some pictures:

Scary! Here's the library, with the wallpaper gradually being removed. Check out those floors we found!

The ceilings are really high, so it's hard to get it all down, even with a ladder. That's my excuse for why there is virtually no difference between "before" and "after." I was using a cheese cutter tool, which turned out to be very useful. Jeff had a more rewarding experience today, because he found stuff! First he discovered pieces of an old newspaper and a JC Penney receipt, both from 1950:

Then, behind the space for the refrigerator, there was a hidden door! The door was just covered up with a big plank of plywood, and evidently covered on the outside, too. That's the fifth door in this kitchen.

This house is full of secrets and mystery. Perfect!
